So here's the deal. The Music Box Theatre in Chicago was supposed to show screenings of Troma's "Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead" this Friday April 17 and Saturday April 18. They advertised that Lloyd Kaufman (Director and Chairman of the Independent Film and Television Alliance) would be present during these screenings.
Unfortunately, Lloyd informed me that he had bigger fish to fry in LA and cannot make the Chicago screening. The Music Box is now refusing to show the film unless Lloyd is present. I am furious about this...it goes against everything the independent film industry stands for. As an independent film theatre, they should still show support for the industry and the fans. THE PEOPLE WANT TO SEE THIS HILARIOUSLY GRUESOME INDEPENDENT FILM AT THE INDEPENDENT THEATRE! GIVE IT TO THEM!
Troma and Lloyd Kaufman deserve this. They can be doing something successful in LA while also reaching the people of Chicago and making some money off it. Money they don't have because it goes into their movies to entertain the fans.
WE MUST TAKE EVERY STEP TO SAVE THE INDEPENDENT FILM INDUSTRY! FUCK MEDIA CONGLOMERATES! We need to keep independent art in the hands of the people!

Please help the cause and call the Music Box at (773) 871-6607. Leave a message with a piece of your mind, I sure as hell did.
