In the ’40s, Morricone used to play the trumpet in jazz bands. After that he became a studio arranger for RCA Victor and in 1955 he started ghost writing for film and theater. Then he started working with Paul Anka, Mina, Milva, Zucchero, and Andrea Bocelli. It was between 1960 to 1975 where he gained international fame via his collaboration with Sergio Leone and sold 10 million copies of Once Upon a Time in the West. After co-founding Forum Music Village, he went on to work with directors like Don Siegel, Mike Nichols, Brian De Palma, Barry Levinson, Oliver Stone, Warren Beatty, John Carpenter, and Quentin Tarantino. He has been cited as a major influence for artists like Hans Zimmer, Danger Mouse, Dire Straits, Muse, Metallica, and Radiohead.<\/p>\n
