Comic-Con 2012 has certainly been a big one for many film franchises, from \u201cTwilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2\u201d to the upcoming \u201cHobbit\u201d movie.<\/p>\n

In recent \u201cThe Hobbit\u201d film news, breaking details from director Peter Jackson at Comic-Con this week may be having some \u201cLord of the Rings\u201d fans very excited. According to confirmed reports from \u201cScreen Rant\u201d this Sunday, the director revealed he may extend \u201cThe Hobbit\u201d from two movies into another trilogy, with the third part based off author JRR Tolkien\u2019s unpublished writings.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Hobbit\u2019 movie: A possible Part 3 using written notes of Middle-earth from JRR Tolkien<\/p>\n

After the successful \u201cHobbit\u201d panel at Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego this week, Peter Jackson still had some more secrets to tell of everyone\u2019s favorite hairy-footed friends.<\/p>\n

\u201cScreen Rant\u201d first reveals this Saturday that Jackson did confirm there were several book scenes he was not able to adapt into the movie because of time and space issues.<\/p>\n

With the main filming of \u201cThe Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey\u201d finished\u2014the second prequel installment is titled \u201cThe Hobbit: There and Back again\u201d\u2014the director may now make a third film from JRR Tolkien\u2019s unpublished books.<\/p>\n

According to \u201cHitFix,\u201d who first received word on a possible trilogy for \u201cThe Hobbit\u201d films, this is Jackson\u2019s official statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been certainly talking to the studio about material we cannot shoot \u2026 I\u2019d like to shoot a bunch more material. There\u2019s so much good stuff in the appendices that we haven\u2019t been able to squeeze into these movies. That\u2019s a discussion we\u2019re currently having.\u201d<\/p>\n

At Comic-Con 2012, \u201cLord of the Rings\u201d director Peter Jackson was able to spill a couple more secrets to his Middle-earth fans:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s still premature. We have an incredible source of material, and we do have the rights to many of JRR Tolkien\u2019s notes, and I have been talking to the stuido about other things we haven\u2019t seen that might make into a [third] film.\u201d<\/p>\n

What \u201cLord of the Rings\u201d fans wouldn\u2019t want to see a little more backstory on everyone\u2019s favorite hobbit Bilbo Baggins, the band of dwarves, or the great wizard, Gandalf the Grey (as seen on the awesome new movie poster)?<\/p>\n

At the same time, there is the question as to whether even having \u201cThe Hobbit\u201d film split into two movies\u2014before considering a third\u2014might stretch the work too thin. However, with the talented cast and Jackson at the reign of this \u201cLord of the Rings\u201d trilogy series, fans likely have little to worry about.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey\u201d is expected to hit U.S. theaters with its journeying adventure this December 14th, 2012.<\/p>\n
