Despite the massive success of \u201cThe Avengers,\u201d Marvel isn\u2019t resting on its laurels and is hard at work on the next phase of films that will lead into the sequel of the superhero team-up film, which already has a release date set of May 1, 2015. Last month saw the addition of Anthony Mackie to the cast of \u201cCaptain America: The Winter Soldier\u201d as Falcon and now we have a list of frontrunners for the female lead in the sequel.
\nAccording to the NY Post (yeah, we know), Marvel has narrowed down the field to Anna Kendrick, Imogen Poots (\u201c28 Weeks Later\u201d and last year\u2019s \u201cFright Night\u201d remake), and \u201cLike Crazy\u201d star Felicity Jones. The role they\u2019re up for is as-of-yet undisclosed, but there are rumors that it\u2019s the character of Sharon Carter, who was the niece of Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell in the first film) in the comics.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re fans of all three actresses so we really don\u2019t have a preference for who gets the role, and hopefully, the part will be more than a damsel-in-distress gig, following up with the direction set by the character of Peggy Carter. TV veterans Joe and Anthony Russo will direct \u201cCaptain America: The Winter Soldier,\u201d which will see release in April 4, 2014, with Chris Evans reprising his role as the patriotic hero.
