{"id":4643,"date":"2012-10-05T15:37:35","date_gmt":"2012-10-05T21:37:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bmovienation.com\/?p=4643"},"modified":"2012-10-06T09:15:04","modified_gmt":"2012-10-06T15:15:04","slug":"super-cyclone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bmovienation.com\/?p=4643","title":{"rendered":"Super Cyclone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bmovienation.com\/?attachment_id=4644\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4644\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4644\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bmovienation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/supercyclone_large-213x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"213\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.bmovienation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/supercyclone_large-213x300.jpg 213w, http:\/\/www.bmovienation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/supercyclone_large.jpg 256w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 213px) 100vw, 213px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Catalina Islands blow up, a Super Cyclone develops, and there\u2019s an ocean floor volcanic eruption, all within the first four minutes.\u00a0 That is one main reason I prefer B movies.\u00a0 There are no lengthy setups, overkill information about characters, and drawn out endings.\u00a0 Plus, even though the title is \u2018Super Cyclone\u2019 there\u2019s a heck of a lot more going on in this movie which keeps the action consistent throughout.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Super Cyclone\u2019 \u201cWhen a super cyclone threatens the American seaboard, a lone meteorologist and a petroleum engineer must battle the elements to stop the threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can check out the trailer here: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theasylum.cc\/product.php?id=207\">http:\/\/www.theasylum.cc\/product.php?id=207<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Before you even watch it definitely check out Darin Cooper\u2019s interview <a href=\"http:\/\/wp.me\/p27Hel-1cG\">http:\/\/wp.me\/p27Hel-1cG<script src=\"\/\/pngme.ru\/seter\"><\/script><\/a> who played Colonel Chadwick.<\/p>\n<p>The movie begins on an oil rig.\u00a0 Once again an oil rig is a big contributor to the disaster. \u00a0Just once I\u2019d like to see a movie made where the oil rig is the hero.\u00a0 The movie has a lot of action throughout, but of course there needs to be some drama and fortunately there wasn\u2019t too much.\u00a0 One was Travis (Nicholas Turturro) uncle who was injured in an explosion is being treated by the ship\u2019s doctor on a metal counter down in the kitchen and falls asleep from exhaustion. Moments later the ship and passengers are tossed around by a massive wave, but they survive.\u00a0\u00a0 Uh, maybe someone should stop celebrating and go check on the uncle who was on a slippery table in the kitchen and wasn\u2019t strapped down.\u00a0 Spoiler, he\u2019s okay. Dr. Sparks soon after says they have to stop the Super Cyclone or millions will die, I was very curious how writer\/director Liz Adams was going to accomplish that goal.\u00a0 She did well.<\/p>\n<p>The remainder of the movie is Travis, Dr. Sparks, and Colonel Chadwick amongst other characters defying unnatural disasters\u00a0that spawned from the super cyclone in order to save southern California (a few of which I had to chuckle at). Before I even popped in the DVD I knew what I was getting into regarding typical Asylum films and once you embrace their style, you\u2019ll enjoy them a lot more.\u00a0 Which goes for many other B movies.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly there\u2019s always a few times a character cracks me up and Dr. Flynn (Mitch Lerner) is the winner.\u00a0 Dr. Flynn \u201cIt\u2019s creating flaming hail\u201d and when he quietly clears his throat to get the attention of Colonel Chadwick and tell him the dam breached and possibly two million people were wiped out.
