Joe Meyers of the Hearst Media News Group will be an intermission guest.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Thing&#8221; (1951) has inspired two remakes &#8212; in 1982 and 2011 &#8212; and &#8220;The Fly&#8221; (1958) was remade in 1986 with Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Although much maligned, the horror remake is not always the worst thing in the world. It seems that remaking the classics of horror has been Hollywood&#8217;s favorite shortcut for decades, but every now and then, they get it right &#8230; (at the Bijou) we journey back to the 1950s to experience the original gems that inspired these superb remakes,&#8221; Solomon said.<\/p>\n<p>The Bijou Theatre, 275 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport.
