Born and raised in Edmonton, Canada, Catherine Mary Stewart got her start studying dance at age seven. She toured through Canada, the Middle East and Germany with the Synergy Dance Company throughout high school, and moved to London to study dance and theater at the London Studio Center after graduation.<\/p>\n
Stewart landed her first role in the 1978 British rock musical film, \u201cThe Apple.\u201d In 1981, Stewart moved to Los Angeles to continue her acting career. She was cast in a series regular role on the daytime drama, \u201cDays of Our Lives,\u201d and went on to star as a girl-next-door in \u201cThe Last Starfighter,\u201d with Lance Guest and Robert Preston, as a tomboy in \u201cNight of the Comet\u201d and as a nuclear holocaust survivor in \u201cWorld Gone Wild.\u201d One of Stewart\u2019s most recognizable roles is that of Gwen in the 1989 comedy \u201cWeekend at Bernie\u2019s\u201d opposite Jonathon Silverman and Andrew McCarthy. <\/p>\n
Other television and film credits include \u201cDudes,\u201d with Jon Cryer, \u201cHollywood Wives,\u201d opposite Candice Bergen, Anthony Hopkins and Angie Dickinson, the miniseries \u201cPassion and Paradise,\u201d and TNT\u2019s presentation of Jack London\u2019s \u201cSea Wolf.\u201d She has also had parts on \u201cGuiding Light\u201d and \u201cThe Outer Limits.\u201d Her recent work includes the TV movies \u201cMy Neighbor\u2019s Secret,\u201d \u201cGeneration Gap\u201d and \u201cDead at 17.\u201d <\/p>\n
Stewart relocated to New York in 1995, and has two children with her husband, Richard Allerton.
