BlobFest was held Saturday, July 13, at 11 a.m. with the StreetFair, featuring music by DJ Hot Rod Scott and Professor Couch of The Roots Rockabilly Roadhouse show on WPRB 103.3 FM. At noon the Fire Extinguisher Parade takes place as a tribute to the humble piece of firefighting equipment that saved the world from The Blob.<\/p>\n
The StreetFair got into full gear with rockabilly band The Buzzards playing music sets throughout the afternoon. Multiple showings of The Blob, plus two other horror classics, took place inside The Colonial Theater on Saturday. On the theatre\u2019s third floor, the \u201creal\u201d Blob and its caretaker Wes Shank will greet fans, as Blob cast member Keith Almoney, characters from Ghoul A Go-Go, a New York-based children\u2019s show, and The Patient Creatures. <\/p>\n
The Saturday Late Show double featured \u201cThe Blob\u201d followed by \u201cTarantula\u201d (1957), the story of a monstrous eight-legged arachnid created by a professor\u2019s experiment gone horribly wrong.<\/p>\n
BlobFest \u201814 concluded Sunday, with a 2 p.m. Q & A session with Blob cast member Keith Almoney, followed by the final double feature, \u201cThe Blob\u201d plus \u201cThe Deadly Mantis\u201d (1957), a frightening tale of a gigantic preying mantis released from the \u201cfrozen glacial world unchanged in a million years\u201d which goes on to \u201cleave a trail of carnage.\u201d<\/p>\n
