For as little as a $1, people could get a three metre model of a World War II American B-17 bomber when Warner Bros Movie World holds a no-reserve silent auction on Friday.<\/p>\n
More than 100 items are up for grabs and could make the perfect Christmas present.<\/p>\n
Many of the items are no longer needed around the park and some may be of sentimental – and possibly monetary – value.<\/p>\n
A 1997 Pontiac sedan with a possibly Mel Gibson-sized hole in the windshield or airplane models that featured in fight scenes from the 1990 movie Memphis Belle are the auction’s obvious Hollywood stars.<\/p>\n
Another highlight is a vehicle rigged to flip up in the air used during the park’s highly popular Police Academy Stunt Show.<\/p>\n
The vehicle has low mileage but be aware it has exploded into the air nearly 100,000 times.<\/p>\n
More for car enthusiasts is a 1961 Cadillac De Ville convertible, which could be worth up to $100,000 if fully restored.<\/p>\n
There’s also an outdoor toilet from the Police Academy show, a jeep complete with steel GI helmet and one of the futuristic police vehicles used in Sylvester Stallone’s Demolition Man film.<\/p>\n
Movie World general manager Dianne Rigg says items such as the Memphis Belle models are becoming harder to acquire as movies shift towards computer-generated props and sets.<\/p>\n
“We continue to get pieces from overseas … and we’ll always do that but I think some of the key things like the B-17 Liberators, those types of pieces won’t be seen anymore because of CGI,” Ms Rigg told reporters.<\/p>\n
