Bruce Campbell is bringing an army to the Pabst Theater on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
Actually, the actor – seen lately in supporting roles on the NBC sitcom “1600 Penn” and the USA drama “Burn Notice” – is bringing “Army of Darkness,” the 1993 comic-horror movie that cemented Campbell’s status as a B-movie icon.<\/p>\n
“Army of Darkness” is the third movie – and, fans say, the best – in Sam Raimi’s “Evil Dead” trilogy, in which Campbell’s character, Ash, battles nasties. In “Army,” he’s transported back to the Middle Ages, where mayhem – and his beloved shotgun, dubbed a “boomstick” – need no translator.<\/p>\n
The actor’s gift for reinvention shows little sign of flagging. In addition to his TV work, Campbell has to his credit a slew of cameos (“Sky High,” “Spider-Man 3”), action-horror spoofs (“Bubba Ho-Tep,” “Man With the Screaming Brain”) and a bestselling memoir (“If Chins Could Kill”).<\/p>\n
