Soon to be released by Supernova Films is the action, adventure, comedy, Sci-fi film \u201cThe Vortex\u201d. \u00a0Supernova Films was started up by Peter Basler and Miguel Muller a couple years ago and since then they have been very busy producing films of all genres and have quite a bit coming out in the near future.\u00a0 Peter and Miguel were kind enough to tell B-Movie Nation about their upcoming film \u201cThe Vortex\u201d and Supernova Films.<\/p>\n

\u201cVortex\u201d is an action, adventure, sci-fi, and comedy. Was it fun to write since you wrote those genres already but not all four combined?<\/b><\/p>\n

PETER: <\/b>It was indeed fun to write the script!\u00a0 The script came about this way:\u00a0 I wrote the piece rather quickly and with a humorous slant to it. This was in the summer of 2011.\u00a0 I got to about page 80 and was stuck.\u00a0 The characters had all been fleshed out and the tone of action, adventure, sci-fi comedy was all there since I basically used a combination of Indiana Jones and Stargate as my jumping off point!\u00a0 But I didn\u2019t really have a clear ending in my mind.<\/p>\n

I had work as a First Assistant Director on two features quickly approaching. So, I reached out to a friend of mine, Cary Anderson, who had written a short film entitled \u201cChad & The Alien Toupee\u201d that I had directed which stars Bob Picardo and Tim Russ of Star Trek Voyager and is campy and has some sci-fi elements.\u00a0 I knew that Cary would bring a lot of humor to it and he did.<\/p>\n

Cary added I think something like 30 or 40 pages to my 80 page version and when I was done with my AD work we set up a table read.\u00a0 It went well aside from Cary\u2019s ending that had our heroes all crashing and burning in a helicopter.\u00a0 Needless to say, that ending was rewritten to what is currently in the film!<\/p>\n

BUT so many of the most memorable laugh lines in the film?\u00a0 All Cary.\u00a0 He gets all the credit for that.\u00a0 And his ending actually informed the ending that I ended up writing.\u00a0 So all in all a great way to work.\u00a0 Very fun and I hope viewers will find a fun film to watch!<\/p>\n
