Fangs are going to be a little different at one Birmingham care home during this year’s Halloween celebrations. That\u2019s because staff and residents have made their own zom-B movie.<\/p>\n
And it\u2019s a ghoul-den cinematic offering.<\/p>\n
\u2018The Other Side\u2019 features guests and workers at Edgbaston\u2019s Amberley Court, a care home for the physically disabled.<\/p>\n
The 25-minute thriller features a wheelchair-bound axeman, blood-spattered ghosts… and a menacing vacuum cleaner.<\/p>\n

Manager Rose Bracher said: \u201cThe residents came up with the idea of doing a film for Halloween.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis gave our residents the chance to use their individual creativity and imagination to take part in something.\u201d<\/p>\n
The plot revolves around the ghost of a former occupant, played by 58-year-old Seamus Lohan, which roams the corridors of the home.<\/p>\n
The suspicious disappearance of a current resident sets off a chain of events that come to a ghoulish crescendo.<\/p>\n
The missing resident is played by Paul Holmes, 63, who meets a sticky end very early in the film.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not the first time Amberley Court staff and residents have made a movie. Previous films include 40-minute thriller, \u2018Escape From Amberley\u2019.<\/p>\n
Nathan Stuart, 30, care home worker and budding film-maker, wrote, directed and edited The Other Side.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got everyone involved in any way we can \u2013 carers, residents, and even the housekeepers.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI started off working in the kitchens three years ago, but I love making films, so this seemed like a natural thing to do with the residents.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a good challenge doing a film without real actors or state-of-the-art equipment. We\u2019ve used title cards to show some scenes we weren\u2019t able to get on camera.\u201d<\/p>\n
The cast of 25 hope to put the frighteners on their friends and family when the film is aired this evening at 5.30pm.<\/p>\n
The audience is encouraged to don demonic dress.
