Due out this fall is Polyscope’s horror film Resurrection about a newly married couple and a struggling college student on his way home for Easter and are met by a path of madness caused by genetically modified crops.
Four years in the making. I had the honor to be involved for several days on the reshoot and the enjoyment of working with an incredible group.
For the last several years I’ve contributed to B Movie Nation and met many dedicated, fun, hardworking people from all trades and roles in the film industry. After experiencing all the details, long days, and amount of energy that goes into making a film, triple the respect I have for everyone.
To simplify the experience, it’s probably best just to share some of the many highlights from the several days I was on set:
- Dodging damaging storms and shuffling shoots, so the storms don’t jeopardize the schedule.
- Filming monster Steve Anderson chasing Alexa Hodge-Jang and Bryan Patrick McCulley at a gas station. All while customers roll in to fill up and until they saw the camera they were about to peel out of the station.
- After a roundhouse kick by Alexa and a boot from Bryan while on the ground, poor Jordan Leigh Wheatley was acting unconscious…while her head was on an anthill (anthill was not in the script).
- Collaborating and finding a replacement actor in minutes for one who last second was unable to make it.
- Sound engineer Tom Barker sprinting backwards during a chase scene and ending up on his back after a nasty trip. An amazing job rolling and holding the recorder and boom up to prevent the equipment from being damaged. I apologize Tom since I was driving the vehicle heading toward you in this scene.
- Abandoning my car in the middle of a busy street to chase down on foot Mark Burchett at a stop light, so he can take me back to the studio to change vehicles for a scene.
- Ross Headley, thank you for your patience and instructing me how to properly use the equipment.
- Bryan and Alexa I’m glad I didn’t run you over when chasing you in the pickup…and the next day chasing you again with your own car Bryan. I hope you don’t mind I changed your radio station.
So much fun, thank you Bill Dever for including me in the reshoot and the opportunity to work with a wonderful group!
