The B Movie Celebration and Indy Pop Con Join Forces

Indy PopCon, the Indianapolis based popular culture and comic convention hosted at the Indiana Convention Center, and The B Movie Celebration announced today that going forward both will share dates, venues and resources. “ This is a natural partnership for us,” says Shawn Smith, Director of Communications. “There is so much synergy between our two events that it just made sense.”

Indy PopCon just held its inaugural event in late May, filling downtown Indianapolis with thousands of gamers, role players, Anime fans and pop culture aficionados. The B Movie Celebration is in its 9th year of operation and was established to act as an incubator for the fledgling film industry in Indiana, as well as to celebrate the long tradition of genre film making.

The 8th Annual B-Movie Celebration takes place in Nashville, Indiana this coming weekend, 8-10 August 2014. This year’s Celebration focuses on the cinema of 1984 with a schedule that includes: Screwballs, Zombie Island Massacre, Ice Pirates, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, CHUD, The Last Star Fighter, The Toxic Avenger, Hardbodies, Repo Man and Night of the Comet.

Indy PopCon has been well described a convention that will make every good nerd think they died and went to heaven its 150,000 square feet of comics, cosplay (dressing up as costumed characters), video games, Internet culture, science fiction/fantasy, anime, TV and movies, art and much much more.

“I attended this year Indy Pop Con and was so impressed with the detail and the scope of what was presented,” says Bill Dever, founder of the B Movie Celebration. “I though these two events would really create fantastic synergy, so in my mind this alliance can only benefit the fans.”

There will be announcement in the next couple of month’s as to the next date of this epoch of pop culture and Mid Western coolness…..
