Director Joe Lawson is being honored at the 2015 B Movie Celebration

Rising genre director Joe Lawson is being honored at the 2015 B Movie Celebration being held August 16th, 17th and 18th 2015 in Nashville Indiana.

Joseph J. Lawson is a writer/director best known for his controversial debut Nazis at the Center of the Earth and for killing director Peter Jackson in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Now VFX supervisor for The Global Asylum (studio responsible for the Sharknado and Mega-Shark franchises) his past lives include radio announcer, on-air weatherman in Montana along with animation and visual effects for the groundbreaking animated show Roughnecks: The Starship Trooper Chronicles. With a lifelong interest in film making his other works include Clash of the Empires lensed in Cambodia, Age of Dinosaurs with Treat Williams and Ronny Cox, the talking dog slapstick comedy Alone for Christmas and an upcoming World War 2 drama, Ardennes Fury. Joe enjoys a wide range of films and genres, he and his wife once spending an entire year watching two movies a night to learn the “what went right, what went wrong” of them. His films cover a range of styles always making more of the time and resources than seems possible yet also maintaining a genuine emotional heart and soul at their core. He also believes Mystery Science Theatre can be the greatest reverse film school on the planet.

His film “Nazis at the Center of the Earth” will be screened with a live commentary by the director himself.
