Growing up in Owen Sound, Ontario, Jessica Cameron’s parents instilled into her the importance of hard work and that having a strong work ethic early on will help you achieve your goals later in life. That life lesson drove her to follow her dreams and she went from a small town girl to one of the most prolific and admired female horror Producer, Director, and Actress in the film industry.
Prior to films, Cameron utilized her creative mind and studied fashion design at Ryerson University in Toronto. After completing her education there she relocated to Ohio and worked as a fashion designer. However, she was still missing something from her life and had an interest in acting, so she took an acting class. Immediately she got the acting bug and took many more classes in multiple schools. Once she got to the level she knew she could start landing roles, she put together a plan. The plan was to leave fashion designing and if she was able to pay the bills with an acting career for one year then she’d then make the next big step and relocate to Los Angeles. Obviously the plan carried out as hoped for and since Cameron has appeared in nearly a hundred films, TV shows, commercials, and music videos.

A majority of her work has been in the horror genre as Cameron has always been attracted to horror films ever since she was a kid. She loves how horror movies can spin your emotions around constantly throughout the movie. When acting in horror films, she thrives on how she’s enabled to explore the deep psychological intricacies that her character suffers while going through intense pain.

After years of experience and paying close attention to the filmmaking process while on each and every set, she wanted to start making her own films and started up her company Small Town Girl Productions. She then had the freedom to create stories and characters that she wants to play the role of. One aspect of her films is she adds layers to the story and characters, so the film can watched repeatedly as the audience discovers new information and more depth to the film.

Being the hard working actress she is, she expects the same from the actors in her films. She has less of a tolerance for anyone that does not take their job seriously and are unprepared and yet has a deep appreciation and admiration for those that work hard and bring out their best talents no matter what size of the role. Rising star Ali Ferda appears with Cameron in AN ENDING, LILITH, and KILL THE PRODUCTION ASSISTANT. Working with Cameron on multiple films has been a huge benefit to Ferda, not only to expand her acting skills, but she learns about the filmmaking process and professionalism on set. “Jessica Cameron is a total badass,” tells Ferda. “She knows every aspect of this industry like the back of her hand, and I never stop learning from her. Cameron stars in Todd Nunes’ Christmas horror film ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE. Ever since Nunes saw the poster for SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT as a kid, he’s always wanted to make his own demented Santa film. Finally making his dream come true, he shares some quality details about working with Cameron on his film, “Jessica is a dream to work with! Not only did she bring her horror expertise to the set of ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE but she was also energetic, passionate, and professional. She is the kind of actor that really lights-up a set. On the first day of filming, Jessica was in the shower preparing to get covered in blood. Her character was about to meet a grisly death and we were all excited to put it on film. I was in a deep conversation with our SFX artist Josh McCarron about upping gore factor in the scene and we were running through the many ways that we could kill Jessica. Suddenly, Jessica appeared out of nowhere and said, “Do you want to stab me in the boob? I’ve never been stabbed in the boob before.” There was instant silence. Everyone just looked at each other in amazement. Did she just say that???? I turned and looked at Josh and said,” We have twenty minutes… Can you stab her in the boob?” It was such a fun day of filming and that kill scene would go on to become one of the most memorable and standout moments in the movie. Jessica is a REAL scream queen with serious knowledge of the horror genre and independent filmmaking. She is without a doubt one of the hardest working actors/directors in the horror community and working with her has been one of the highlights of my film career.“

TRUTH OR DARE was Small Town Girl Productions first feature film and Cameron’s directing debut. She also stars in the film and co-wrote it with Jon Higgins. The film screened at over fifty festivals worldwide and won thirty four awards. It has been very well received in the horror community with nothing but praise in the reviews. Starring as Michelle in TRUTH OR DARE is award winning actress and model Heather Dorff who stars in many of Cameron’s films. They both host and produce the popular show Scream Queen Stream. Filmmaker Lisa Ovies has made many films and shorts and PUPPET KILLER is her directing debut for a feature film. Just like Cameron, Ovies is heavily involved in the Women in Horror community and having Cameron play the role of Vengeance in her film PUPPET KILLER was a delight. “Jessica Cameron is one of the most talented, hardworking and passionate women I have ever had the privilege to work with,” shares Ovies. “As an actor, she was a gift to direct and let me kill her repeatedly without complaint or hesitation. She has an amazing way of working with actors to support them but to also push them to new levels in their craft.
