Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes Poster Reveal

20th Century Fox has released the first posters for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Details on the plot are still scarce, but we know that it will continue building to the original 1968 film, there will be more ape talking, and an attempt to balance Caesar’s story wit the story of the surviving humans. But people don’t show up to a Planet of the Apes movie for the homo sapiens. They want the apes, and these posters give Caesar and his compatriots a close-up. The war paint is interesting because it raises the question of why they paint their faces at all. Are they at war with other apes and/or the humans? Is it an attempt to find an identity and display individuality? I really enjoyed Rise of the Planet of the Apes, so I’m eager to find out what director Matt Reeves has in store. Reeves tweeted that we can expect to see the first trailer on December 18th at 6:00am PST. In addition to Andy Serkis reprising his role as Caesar, the film also stars Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Judy Greer, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Toby Kebbell. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opens July 11, 2014.
