“Midsummer Nightmares II” is the sequel to “Midsummer Nightmares” and stars Kelci Magel who was in the first film a as Liz and she’s in the upcoming film “Reunion” with Maria Olsen. Due to scheduling conflicts with Julie Sherwood who played the role of Audrey in the first film, Christy Faulkner was brought in for the role. Also appearing is the rising actress Erin Ryan, who also starred in Henrique Couto’s “Haunted House on Sorority Row,” “Babysitter massacre” and “A Bulldog for Christmas.”
(Spoiler Alert) Starting off we learn the nightmare of the first film is not over and jumps right into where Dani left off. The girls are somewhat in denial that she can be back. Scared, but trying to go on with their normal fun party lives, people around them start disappearing and the reality that Dani is back slowly settles in and the girls with help from the guys they need to stop the nightmare once and for all.
During the frightening story there’s infidelity, drugs, alcoholic mothers, and plenty of kills. (Kind of spoiler alert) One thing I appreciated is no one is safe, in typical horror films you can predict who will survive, but here, most get it when you start thinking they’ll be okay at the end. I did wonder whether there would be a survivor or not?
