Tara Reid On Sharknado

Sharknado was the surprise hit of 2013.

And Tara Reid was just as shocked as everybody else by the B-movie’s huge success.

In a new interview with HLNTV, the 38-year-old actress opens up on working on the film’s sequel and how she initially took the role as ‘a joke.’

With its cheesy special effects and over the top acting, Tara never imagined all the attention the film would garner.

‘I’m just as stunned as everyone else. Come on, I did it as a joke! I didn’t even think anyone was going to see it,’ revealed the New Jersey native.

‘And then what happened has never happened before on any movie. Even now, you thought the buzz was going to stop about Sharknado, but it just keeps going.’

The Syfy flick, which co-stars 90210 alum Ian Ziering, was such a sensation that a sequel was rushed into production, which she says will be WORSE than the original.

‘And the one we’re shooting now in the city, you think, ‘How can it be worse than the first one?’ That’s the only way it can maybe work. We’ll see what happens.’

Because of the social media buzz, the original campy horror film delivered a record 2.1 million total viewers on it’s third airing.

While she’s bound to secrecy about the sequel’s ludicrous plot, the blonde beauty does say the sequel will be even more fun than the original.

‘I can’t tell too much — I’m not allowed to, to be honest with you — but you can definitely expect it to be as entertaining — if not more, believe it or not — as the first one.’

And you can guarantee it will be filled with more of those preposterous situations that fans expect.

‘In the scene in the first film, where I ended up in the stomach of the shark, which was so ridiculous that you think, ‘How are you going to top that?’ Well, we’re actually pretty close to topping it.’

On Monday, the American Pie star was spotted on the New York set of the sequel with a severed hand and her her arm in a sling.
