Starz is Ready for Ash and Evil Dead Sequel for 2015

The follow-up series to the “Evil Dead” franchise will be called “Ash vs. Evil Dead.” Once again, fans will be thrilled to see the veteran Evil Dead director Sam Raimi reunited with the veteran and iconic Bruce Campbell star and producer Rob Tapert. As usual, Campbell will reprise his role as Ash, the rifle wielding chainsaw-handed monster hunter who many say has spent the last 30 years just killing off monsters to avoid “maturity and responsibility.” If you don’t call killing off dangerous monsters a great responsibility then we don’t what is.

In the Starz ordered TV series, Ash is called back to monster killing business because a deadly plague is engulfing the whole world and the “evil dead” are slowly killing and taking over. The series will comprise 10 half-hour episodes that will start airing in 2015.

Actually, this is not the first time Starz will work with producer Rob and director Sam. Both were highly involved in the recent success of Starz’ “Spartacus.” With the coming reunion of Sam, Rob, and Campbell, fans around the world who have been craving for some sequel to the latest “Evil Dead” will finally get their wish and on weekly basis.

The first “Evil Dead” film was originally a B-movie plot film concept in 1979. When it came out in 1981, Rob, Sam, and Campbell weren’t prepared for the worldwide success it generated, and with enough money to create a sequel, “Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn in 1987. This generated even greater success. This was followed by the most popular of the titles and the most financially successful, “Army of Darkness” in 1992. A reboot of “Evil Dead” in 2013 had limited success but was criticized for missing the biggest piece of the franchise, Bruce Campbell himself. This would lead to the TV show sequel that will now come out in 2015.
