Wild Wheels (1969)

Mindbogglingly stupid movie that has bikers (bad guys) battling beach-based dune buggy riders (good guys).

Low budget garbage with ludicrous directing choices, howlingly bad writing and pointless story developments. No bonus points for spotting the boom mikes at the top of the picture, they are too obvious. The acting is so over-the-top I’ll bet every one of the actors was taken to the hospital with food poisoning for chewing the scenery. There is also tons of unnecessary padding, with musical numbers galore. Amazing how they can lip-synch an invisible horn section and fade down the song in a live performance in a tiny dive bar with five musicians.

Of course, no bad biker movie would be complete without many overly long scenes of bikers riding the back roads of California with twangy guitar licks pulsating on the soundtrack. This movie has the minimum daily requirement of those.

Probably even worse than “The Hellcats.” Almost as funny as my favorite bad Biker Film, “The Tormentors,” and like that joint, “Wild Wheels” also has trained walrus Bruce Kimball in a major role as one of the bad guy bikers.
