rittany Murphy’s last movie “Something Wicked” is getting a limited release at Regal Cinemas in Oregon and Washington state, as of April 4, 2014. Merchant Films is self-distributing the film.
According to an article published by The Hollywood Reporter on March 18, 2014: “The film, which was shot in Eugene, is a dark thriller starring Murphy, Shantel VanSanten (“The Messengers”), John Robinson (“Lords of Dogtown”) and Julian Morris (“Valkyrie”). Darin Scott directed from a script by Joe Colleran, who also produced. The story follows a young couple embarking upon their wedding plans, when gruesome secrets from their past collide with sinister forces of the present.”

Murphy died on Dec. 20, 2009, at the age of 32. She was best known for her roles in 1995’s “Clueless” and 2001’s “8 Mile.”
In November 2013, her father, Angelo Bertolotti, said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that Murphy and her husband, Simon Monjack were murdered.
Bertolotti had this to say in the interview about Murphy’s death: “I have a feeling that there was definitely a murder situation here. Yeah, it’s poison. Yes, yes, I know that.”
Murphy was found unconscious at her Los Angeles home, after she was seen throughout the day having difficulty breathing. A coroner report ruled that Murphy died of complications from pneumonia, with secondary factors of iron-deficiency anemia and intoxication from multiple prescription drugs.
Monjack was a B-movie filmmaker with a criminal record for fraud. He married Murphy in 2007. Monjack died on May 23, 2010, at the age of 40, in the same house where Murphy died. A coroner’s report ruled that Monjack’s death was caused by similar factors: acute pneumonia and severe anemia.
However, Murphy’s family is now disputing the reports by saying that the deaths were not accidental but premeditated murder. The family is also pushing to have the deaths investigated as murders, after a new toxicology report ordered by the family showed that Murphy’s hair tested positive for 10 heavy metals and that a possible reason “would be an exposure to these metals (toxins) administered by a third-party perpetrator with likely criminal intent,” according to “Good Morning America.”
Julia Davis, a friend of Murphy’s family, said in the “Good Morning America” interview: “Our theory is that [Murphy and Monjack] were poisoned. But the rest investigators should look into and determine. She was a young and wholesome girl, so we want the record to be set straight and for Brittany to have justice.”
The Los Angeles coroner’s office issued this statement to ABC News: “We have not seen the results and nothing has been presented to us. We stand by what we ruled on the case.”
Bertolotti and Davis have gone on record to say that they believe that Murphy and Monjack were murdered because Murphy spoke out in support of a Department of Homeland Security whistleblower. In light of these accusations, Bertolotti and Davis have not publicly named any possible specific suspects.
The Los Angeles Police Department is not commenting.
In addition to “Clueless” and “8 Mile,” Murphy’s other films included 1999’s “Girl, Interrupted,” 2001s’ “Don’t Say a Word,” 2003’s “Just Married’ and 2004’s “Little Black Book.” She briefly dated her “Just Married” co-star Ashton Kutcher and was rumored to have had a fling with her “8 Mile” co-star Eminem.
