Evil Toons (1992)

Four girls get dropped off to clean a house and end up unleashing an evil, lascivious toon that wants to do evil, lascivious things. This all happens after some female bonding, female unbonding, gratuitous nudity and plenty of bad acting.

Written and directed by Fred Olen Ray, this movie will appeal to horror fans largely due to the faces in the cast. David Carradine plays a man trying to destroy the evil book that houses the evil toons. Dick Miller, genre legend that he is, is the boss of the cleaning girls. Arte Johnson plays a neighbour who offers his assistance to the ladies and the gorgeous Michelle Bauer pops up in an amusing cameo to pester Dick Miller. The girls themselves are a lovely bunch picked more for their ability to disrobe than ability to act: Monique Gabrielle is the lead and she’s joined by Suzanne Ager, Madison and Barbara Dare.

Made on an extremely low budget, there is a lot here to appreciate (the fact that the thing actually got made, for one thing) but there’s also a lot here that highlights just how cheap and amateurish everything is. And the less said about the animation the better.

If you’ve already experienced other Fred Olen Ray efforts then you’ll already know what kind of thing to expect from this mix of nudity, evil deeds and bad jokes. So you’ll already know whether you’re going to find it watchable or not.
