Deadliest Catch Is BackMeet The Fearless Crew Of The All New Season. Premieres on 4/10 @ 9PMdsc.discovery.com/Deadliest-Catch/
In the near future, if you don’t find your TV remote control, there’ll be hell to pay — literally. That’s because Pinhead and (presumably) his hellish Cenobite cronies from the Hellraiser movie franchise are heading to the small screen. The announcement of this most recent adaptation of the Clive Barker novella The Hellbound Heart comes about six months after Hellraiser: Revelations, the ninth entry in the film series, hit home video (after a nominal theatrical release) and just a week after it landed on Netflix streaming.
Few details are known about the actual content of the Hellraiser TV show — at this point, dubbed Hellraiser: The Series — but it comes from long-running TV production company RHI (responsible for quite a few of those lovably cheesy SyFy movies of the week), recently renamed Sonar Entertainment. Any inherent campiness that that association may entail, however, could be tempered by the involvement of executive producer Larry Kupin, who knows the franchise very well, having run New World Entertainment (which he purchased from B-movie king Roger Corman) when the first two Hellraiser films (generally regarded as the best in the series) were released in 1987 and 1988.
The official synopsis from Sonar reads as follows:
One of the most successful (and terrifying) franchises in film history is ready for its weekly television debut. For over 25 years, fans have followed the exploits of an insidious villain named Pinhead, summoned from a nightmarish underworld by an ancient puzzle box. He will seduce you with power and tempt you with fear, until your soul belongs to him. Now, for the first time, a weekly series set in the fantastic realm of Hellraiser will thrill audiences worldwide.
