Screaming In High Heels

Hopefully you remember Screaming in High Heels, the documentary by Jason Paul Collum on the glory days of 80s video vixens Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens and Michelle Bauer, which we were fortunate enough to get an advance look at last October? Well, here’s some good news. It’s about to hit Region 1 DVD unrated from August 28th, courtesy of Breaking Glass Pictures and Vicious Circle Films.

The official synopsis: “Three girls living in Los Angeles, CA in the 1980s found cult fame when they “accidentally” transitioned from models to B-movie actresses, coinciding with the major direct-to-video horror film boom of the era. Known as “The Terrifying Trio,” Linnea Quigley (The Return of the Living Dead), Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre) and Michelle Bauer (The Tomb), headlined upwards of ten films per year, fending off men in rubber monster suits, pubescent teenage boys, and deadly showers. Then it all came crashing down. This documentary remembers these actresses – and their most common collaborators – and shows how smart they were to play stupid.”

It’s a really nice, heartfelt piece of work from all concerned, with an abundance of fan-pleasing archive material and a shitload of footage from the many DTV horrors the ladies worked on. For fans of Quigley, Stevens and Bauer, it’s indispensable; for everyone else there’s still plenty to enjoy. Special features include bonus interview footage, and video of a Q&A at Flashback Weekend of Horror.
